How to Send and Receive Faxes Online

| |

By Linda Jenkins

Today many people are wondering if faxing online is something they are capable of doing. Using a computer from home, the office or anywhere else to send faxes is one of the easiest ways available. Compared to sending a typical fax this is almost effortless.

It is very easy to send and receive faxes online. All it takes is 4 steps as follows:

First you need to choose an online fax provider and go to their sign up page. When you choose an online fax provider, you will want to check out whether they are a reputable company. Check that they have good customer reviews, that they have been online for a long time, and that their web site looks professional.

Make sure that the provider has a fax number in the location you need. Check out their monthly price and whether they have a free trial period (most companies give a 30 day free trial). Also make sure you understand what the monthly price includes. You will want to know how many faxes you can send and receive for that price, and how much it costs to send and receive extra pages.

The second step is to choose a geographic location and a fax number. Some places offer toll-free numbers. For others you will need to select a location (area code). Some places offer a vanity number (a number you can pick which is easier to remember) for a fee. If you don't want a vanity number - just any fax number will do - select one from the list they give you. When someone sends you a fax to this number it will be sent straight to your inbox. You can then save it, forward it, print it, or do with it whatever you like. In addition, when you send a fax online - it will appear to have come from this number.

Number three is very simple and easy to understand. The form they provide must be filled out with your information and the next thing you know - you have a fax number so you can fax from your computer.

You are done. Everything is set and you are free to start sending faxes as well as receiving them. Look in your incoming mail for the faxes. This is where you can also send faxes. The directions for sending and receiving faxes and any other pertinent information will be sent to you. The easy part is it is just like sending someone an email with something attached. If you can do this, you most certainly can send an online fax.
