How to use Employment Classifieds

| |

By Alex Wu

Today's economy is taking its toll on everyone, especially the common worker. More and more people are getting laid off each and every day and times are getting tougher and tougher. We are all trying to find work and not sure exactly how. Employment classified ads are a great way to start.

There are many ways to make use of this opportunity, but most people simply browse the opening pages and then give up. After all, everyone and their mother will see the same jobs so what is the point? Not so fast doomsayer, you can also post your own ad and have employers looking for you! Let's take a quick look at how you can make the most of employment classified ads.

The print media is what everyone is used to looking at, so that will be our starting point. You can obviously check the paper, the main point here is that you are going to want to check it every day. Most individuals are under the impression that the only help wanted ads are in the Sunday Edition. They are dead wrong. Most papers today have at least one mid week help wanted edition and they also have a section dedicated to this each and every day. It may not be as large but some of the smaller companies will take advantage of the cheaper prices and place a week's worth of ads for the same price as one Sunday ad. Check this section each and every day.

Now it is time to slide over to the information highway and see what is available. The internet is going to give you access to more employment classified ads than you can ever possibly imagine. These are going to take some time and skill to get through as there are a decent amount of scam artists on there and ads that don't belong in your category, but you will get used to how to get through them after a while. Once you work out the right keywords, you will be flying through them like a seasoned veteran.

There is another type of employment classified that people don't usually put into this category, job boards. How can you not classify a site that is nothing but one big help wanted ad as an employment classified ad? You can't and you need to dive right into them. This niche of classifieds is the most organized and easy to use. You will have all the information you need at your fingertips in a snap!

Now when you take your break from job hunting and go update your MySpace page, you can also look for some jobs there. You would be surprised how many businesses are using this outlet as employment classified. Do a little surfing and the next thing you know you might be collecting a real paycheck again.

Okay, we have checked all the postings, now what do you do? Now is when you really go to work and start posting. Everyone looks, few people even know that they can put themselves up on these sites as looking for work. Each and every employment classified has an area where you can say that you are looking for work. You are going to be surprised at how many employers will go through these listings on a daily basis looking for talent. If you can't get enough information on there, make your social page work for you as an employment classified and post your resume right there and then direct the traffic there from you classified ad.

When you get to the job employment classifieds (the job search boards like Monster), you can post your resume right there for perspective employers to see. You can also set your profile to send you daily, weekly or monthly alerts with new postings. Now this is putting employment classifieds to work for you!
